Drupal Views Module: Creating lists of content on your Drupal site
Share with Others
In this episode we cover an overview of the Drupal 7 Views module. The Drupal Views module is probably the most popular Drupal module and is installed on almost every Drupal 7 website I build. It’s so popular in fact that it’s included in Drupal 8 by default.
The Views module allows you to easily build and format lists of content on your Drupal 7 site. If you need to build a simple list of Nodes, Views can do that. If you need to build a table listing, Views can do that too. In this video, we will go through an introduction and overview of Views, as well as a few example views. You will learn about the different types of content you can display with Views, different display settings, and other Views options.
This video is built to be an introduction for beginners and newcomers to Drupal to teach the basics of the Drupal 7 Views module. In this video you will create two views. The first will be a page view that displays a list of articles on your Drupal website. The second will be a block view that shows the titles of the last three articles on your Drupal website. Using the skills you learn in this video, you will be ready to tackle more complicated problems that can be solved with views.
Now go out and build yourself some views!

Thanks for this post, Views is a very important place for a web site. I realize that it is so flexible that I allways use it event if the core structure can do the same thing. That make me realize my lack of untherstanding of the core structure.
I strangle a lot yestherday with views and the contextual filters. I hade lots of difficulties to find the good way to do what I hade to do. I needed to propose similar post base on taxonomy in a block on the node page of a particular content type.
One of the difficulty came from the fact that more then on term was possible for eatch node and I don't wan repeated node.
If that can help others :
1- Be sure to have a relation with Taxonomy term of the node
2- Add a contextual filter : Has taxonomy term ID
3- When The filter value is Not available
4 Provide default value
5 Type: Taxonomy term ID from URL
6 Check : Load defaut filter from node page...
7 Check vocabulary : chose the relevent term (tags)
When the filter value is available:
1 Specify validation criteria: Terme de taxonomie
2 chose the term name (tags)
3 Filter value type : Term IDs separated by , or +
4 Reduce duplicates : DONT work wait...
5 under More : Allow multiple values
Save the filter and unter Advance Query settings check Distinct
that will hide the duplicate node.
To remove the curent Nid add a other filter Content Nid
When the filter value is not available :
Provide defalt value
Type : Cutent ID from URL
than on more option check Exclude to reverse the filter to hide the selected Nid.
That would same me 3 hours of testing and frustration!
Thanks for this detailed description of how you solved your problem. It could definitely help someone with similar issues!
