Daily Dose of Drupal Episode #178

In this episode we look at the Imagefield Focus Module. This module adds another option to the image styles on a content type field. With this module you are able to specify a focus and crop area of your image. Once you have selected either or both of those areas the module then resizes and focuses on the certain area you specified. As you will see in the video, this module can be used when displaying a staff page showing only head shots and then loading to a full page where the entire image is shown all with the same image. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments below.

The module is great, but it needs someone to put the time into making it stable.

Image field focus is great but if you want your images to be dropped to a certain aspect ratio then it can run into some problems with the math. Sometimes the crop rectangle and the focus rectangle simply do not jive with the aspect ratio you define in your image preset... Have you looked at the fical point module as an alternative? It's very user friendly and the aspect ratio always works.

/me disclaimer: I'm the maintainer of focal point so I'm terribly biased

Thanks for the comment. I actually didn't know your module existed. I am going to check it out though. Would love to do a DDoD of video on it. Could see the benefit of showing everyone the use cases for both modules.
